A message from Uru…
I started this campaign to raise awareness for safe sex in 2006.
It hurt too much to see people continuously dying from HIV/AIDS especially in Africa.
I figured, I am African. I can make a difference. I wrote the song, “Wrap Up,” to spread the message of protection. The way I see it…. knowledge is power.
If people know how to protect themselves, we all win.
I worked with high schools around the world, including Santa Barbara High in California. They made it a class project and actually did choreography to my song.
The response to “Wrap Up” has been awesome. It still is.
Being from Africa, I knew that many times, it is considered taboo to talk about sex, so I sang about it instead! With lots of metaphors : ) The youth got it!
Feels good to be an African helping Africans and people around the world…
